Back to School: Tips for Wearing a Backpack

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

With school right around the corner, kids shopping for new clothes, and stores pitching the latest fashions for laptop backpacks, ergonomic backpacks, and womens computer notebook bags, we thought it would be appropriate to offer a few tips on Backpack Safety

#1 Choose a school backpack with wide padded should straps and a padded back.
#2 Pack light
#3 Organize the backpack to use all of its compartments
#4 Pack heavier items closes to the center of the back
#5 The backpack should never weigh more than 10 to 20 percent of the students body weight
#6 Always use both shoulder straps
#7 Slinging a backpack over one shoulder can strain muscles. Wearing a backpack on one shoulder may also increase the curvature of the spine.

How to Travel Light while on a Business Trip

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Chief executives and anyone traveling on business can sometimes find themsleves shuttling from cars, airplanes, and other types of transportation.  When meeting with people and business partners, it is common to accumulate a bulky collection of business cards, receipts, and other scraps of papers.  A clutter management strategy centers around small leather laptop bags, that works as a briefcase, but can hold gadgets like blackberries, and cellphones.

A business executive can get away with a standard double fold wallet with a slim design to work in suit pockets.  Limiting the wallet to six cards and only essential information such as car service numbers.  Receipts and business cards should be kept in coat ockets and not into the wallet.  Back at the office, they can be entered in the contact system or filed away. It is generally better to pay a little more for high quality leather. Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten.

For road warriers, one of the best ways to stay organized is the car desk.  The designs available offer mobile office desks for paperwork filing, to auto desks that are powered for laptops.

Gift Guide For Travelers

Monday, December 10th, 2007

We offer a gift guide geared towards men, women, etc, but what about the road warrier?  We are in the middle of the storm for orders and today is the peak selling day for online sales.  As people feel the need to complete the holiday shopping, I felt we need to offer some ideas for the travelers on your list.

Luggage is a key gift item and we are ready to get back into the luggage market with Samsonite. Meanwhile, one of our best selling items for business travelers is the Mobile Edge product line.

A jewelry roll is an interesting item for the leisure traveler.  The jewelry roll is Asian inspired silk pouch for carrying jewelry.

The Walking seat cane provides a great gift for travelers who go on vacations with hiking on the agenda, or traveling to PGA golf games.

Bootie slippers allow travelers to take something on the road with them that reminds them of home. Most slippers can fold in half and take little space in the luggage.

A Travel sleep sound machine keeps the tired traveler who is away from their own bed and having a hard time sleeping.  Any noise from street sounds, hotel hallway noise, or rowdy fellow guests can be drowned out by a sleep machine that features multiple sounds  that muffle unwanted noise and help bring on sleep.

Hopefully, this helps answer the question of what travelers may want to take on the road, pack up and go, stay on their feet, and get a good nights sleep.  Thanks for reading.

Back Pain Covered on The Today Show

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

My Wife alerted me this morning that The Today Show did a feature on back pain.  I tuned into the video and found that they covered some of the same stats I found featured in a WSJ article recently.  The program covered the following ideas.  65 million americans suffer from some sort of back pain and $50 billion is spent on items such as back support belts, beds, chairs, and back cushions each year.  The RelaxtheBack Retailer did $90 million in revenue last year selling ergonomic products.  One of the first products featured on the program was the inversion table.  Inversion therapy helps to naturally decompress the spine.  As we also cover inversion therapy and sell inversion tables, we advise that users check with their doctor if they have blood pressure issues before using an inversion table.

Another point addressed on the site is the amount of time the average americans spend sitting in their car; 100 hours of sitting a year.  Back lumbar support for the car then becomes something that can matter and heated car seat cushions are one of our best sellers.

Finally, the main prevention technique to avoid back trouble is strengthening the core muscles.  Core muscles in back and abdomen support the spine.   Good to know that we are providing items that can help alleviate back pain.

Driving to Work Can Be Relaxing

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

Comfortchannel.com has been a leading retailer of portable car seat cushions and massagers aimed to support the lower lumbar region or heated massager car seats that knead away the stress of a long commute. The heated car cushions can be strapped or placed on any car seat and can be powered by the ciggarette adapter (do people still use these for lighting up while driving?).  Massage settings are controlled by a remote, which can be a hassle while driving (Who wants to fumble for the remote while dealing with 65mph traffic on either side?).    Some of the products just vibrate, rather than knead so expectations should not be for a deep tissue massage.  Our best selling heated car seat massager is the Obus Forme Car Heated Car seat cushion. These heated back massagers and seat supports can be toted to any chair, not just the drivers seat, including home and office settings.
