Looking for Energy Saving Electric Heaters?
Infratech heaters are over 90% energy efficient, UL listed for outdoor and indoor use and are easy and inexpensive to operate. Infratech has been an industry leader in infrared technology for more than 50 years. We offer a wide selection of heating options, for optimum comfort in any outdoor room or enclosed area. Infratech products are ideal for use in fine homes, restaurants, hotels and more.
Utilizing clean electrical energy to supply spot heating for garages, shops and restaurants, the Infratech radiant heaters range from 1500 Watts to 4000 Watts power output. Electric ceiling heaters can be mounted to the sidewall or hang from ceiling, or flush mounted. they are not meant to be mounted on the floor. Since there are no open flames, the clearance requirements for mounting are minimal compared to gas radiant heaters, but should be mounted away from any possible human contact. Generally, electric heaters (Infratech heater clearance specifications) should be mounted 6 inches from ceiling, 18 inches from walls, and 72 inches from floor. It is generally recommended that radiant heaters be mounted at an angle so that heat can be radiated from the side and not straight down.
Schaefer Ventilation is one of the leading supplier for outdoor and indoor radiant infrared patio heaters and electric heaters for ceiling for over 50 years. Innovation, quality and superior design augment the quartz heater line in addition to the best customer service in the quartz heater industry. Offered in wall mountable or portable options, Schaefer Tansun Infrared Heaters are used as efficient spot heaters because of their ability to focus warm air and warm objects rather than the air surrounding them. Consider the Tansuns as an electric shop heater. This makes them energy efficient heating systems for outdoor situations that involve drafts or considerable air movement. Ideal for auto repair garages, agricultural uses such as warming barns and livestock pens or orchards for the prevention of frost, and warehouses with large loading docks, Tansun quartz spot heaters are energy efficient and provide quick instant-on radiant heat.
Though infrared heaters have output ratings that are substantially less than traditional mushroom patio heaters, electric and gas directional heaters are much less affected by wind, and they are extremely energy efficient. Due to their minimal clearance requirements these IR heaters can be mounted to walls, eaves, ceilings or shade structures.
In most circumstances, multiple directional IR heaters are used together in order to adjust the amount of heat in the area. These infrared heaters should be installed with individual controls to maintain the level of heat output as well as turning the radiant heaters on and off.
Most often these IR heaters use enough energy to require their own circuit. Multiheater installations often run power to a new subpanel and/or switchbox near the tube heaters, then split off the circuits there. In many houses, particularly older ones, replacing the old panel with one that can handle more juice is advised because current panels are already maxed out.
For two natural gas heaters it costs about $800 to $1,200 in plumbing, plus another $75 to $100 for wiring the igniter. Most infrared heaters use a low-voltage line that's relatively simple to install. Rarely should you add a gas heater line to an existing gas line; the house run is typically calculated for the existing appliances. If you're at your line limit, you may need to run the new heater line back to the meter.
Electric installations require no maintenance; with gas, you'll need to check gas output vents periodically for insects clogging them.
It costs about 25 to 75 cents per hour to run an electric tube heater. If electricity is expensive in your area, it may cost more to run than a gas powered tube heater. You can estimate replacing the quartz heating element in five to seven years with average; replacement elements typically range from $30 to $70.
These efficient heaters use infrared radiant heating. This method heats objects and people without heating the air in between. This increases their efficiency and ensures effectiveness even on windy days.
Some electric IR heaters are safe to use indoors or in an enclosed patio and are fairly economical to operate. Electric heaters have adjustable heat output and are a good alternative when gas is not appropriate.
Electric heaters are virtually silent and require no venting. Gas tube heaters usually hiss and require ventilation.
Calculating BTUs: Luckily, there are methods in place for estimating the proper IR heater size that is appropriate for your needs. For electric IR heaters ceiling suspended or wall mounted in an enclosed space, allow 10,000 watts for each 1,000 square feet of floor space or 10 watts per square foot. Since 10 Kw roughly equates to 34,000 BTUs, or 3.4 BTUs per watt, you can calculate how many BTUs are needed.
