When the unit is new, you may notice a slight smoking or odor. This is normal and will not recur. When using for the first time, thoroughly wash and then dry the baking grids.
Instructions on how to install the waffle iron grids:
With grid centered on the housing, insert the two tabs at the back of the grid and then press the front of the grid downward until it snaps into position.
For safety, it is recommended to use a pot holder or oven mitts when installing or removing hot grids.
To remove grids: push the button on the handles inward toward the hinge until grid is released. Lift grid out.
