Bowron Sheep Skin has been a leading manufacturer of fine, genuine sheepskin rugs for many years. Bowron Company selects lambs from the finest flocks of sheep stations located in the land of the lamb, the Australian outback. Drawing as well, from the high country runs and the lush green pastoral farms of New Zealand, Bowron operates tanneries in both countries, amidst miles of prime sheep farming areas, ensuring a plentiful source of high quality raw Sheep Skin pelts.
Every Bowron Sheepskin is the sum of the same methods pioneered in the 1880's by the Bowron brothers, hailing from Yorkshire. Their unique 42 step tanning method has been constantly refined over the past 100 years. The raw sheep skins are expertly trimmed, machined and hand washed before the tanning commences. The tanned fleece is dried, combed by machine first and followed by a hand combing. Finally, they are polished, enhancing the natural luster of the Sheep wool. Then, the Bowron symbol of excellence is attached to the Sheepskin.
