Maintain Your Silk Comforter
To prolong the use of your silk comforter, always use a duvet cover. Duvet Covers protect the silk comforters from wear. Duvet Covers also prevent the silk comforters from constant dry cleaning. Silk Origin’s Silk Duvet Covers are 100 Percent Silk and machine washable.
Laundering A Silk Comforter
Do not hand or machine wash silk comforters. The silk filling is a natural fiber that will shrink in water. Enclose the silk comforter in a comforter cover and launder the cover only. You may dry clean the silk comforter if you find it necessary, but there is often no need to dry clean the comforter.
Retaining Fluffiness
Every night during sleep the human body expels approximately 200cc of moisture. When the comforter feels weighty, or begins to lose its heat retention or fluffiness, it needs to be aired out in the sun. Sunlight will draw out trapped moisture and restore fluffiness to the comforter. Limit each airing to one to two hours, depending on amount of sunlight. The comforter can also be put in the dryer on low heat (do not exceed 30 minutes in dryer).
