Detailed Product Description:
Optional Optima Paddle Bag
Rigid padded case
Holds 2 paddles and balls
Table tennis rackets, also known as paddles or bats, are composed of two unique elements. The "blade" and the "rubber".
The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) was formed in Berlin in 1926 to set and standardize the rules of this relatively new sport. There are specific requirements concerning the composition of the blade and the rubber and foam covering, but the otherwise the rules state: "The racquet may be of any size, shape, or weight but the blade shall be flat and rigid". The interpretation of these parameters has resulted in unlimited choice of blades and paddles on the market today.
For a beginner, this can be overwhelming. Most professionals recommend that a good all around racket is the best way to start. A new player should find the grip and style of play that is most comfortable for them. Only after one is familiar with the game, should the investigation of specialized rackets and techniques be explored. Killerspin recognizes this dilemma, and has developed a complete line of rackets, blades and rubbers for all levels of player skills.
As the name implies, the Chinese penhold grip is similar to holding a pen for writing. The thumb and index finger hold on to the racket handle, while the other three fingers curl around the back of the racket. There are many variations of this grip, not to mention the Japanese and Korean penhold styles.
A more advanced penhold racket for the intermediate player is designed to provide higher spin characteristics and greater control. Extra lightweight for increased hand and racket speed.
